Update from France: demolition done, permits in hand, power secured

About Agristo

Our new site in Escaudœuvres (Hauts-de-France) is taking shape. We’re converting the former Tereos sugar factory into a high-performance potato hub for the French market. Keeping what’s solid, rebuilding what needs a fresh start, and making choices that will pay off for our clients in reliability, lead times and product fit.

What's been going on

  1. Site cleared, with a bang

In April 2025, the final buildings of the legacy sugar site came down, wrapping up the last phase of demolition. Clearing the footprint early means we can build smarter lines, better flows and safer traffic on day one.

  2. Green light to build

This July, our project cleared a key regulatory step and received the go-ahead to start construction. With permits in place and public consultation behind us, we can move from plans to piling. That means your local capacity just got closer.

  3. Power for the long term

A new electricity substation in Bévillers designed to integrate regional renewables is being brought online to feed the area, including our site. The regional grid upgrades (and dedicated connections in the Cambrai area) are exactly what you want behind a modern food plant: stable power today, and room to grow greener tomorrow.

What's happening next: foundations

  1. Ground works & piling
With demolition and leveling complete, piling starts next. Foundations are where uptime begins. We’re engineering for low-loss, high-throughput production from day one.

  2. Local hiring & partners

We continue ramping up recruitment and grower partnerships around the site so you benefit from shorter supply lines and true ‘made and grown in France’ credentials.

For the full phased roadmap, visit our project page Vive la Frite. The staggered go-live means earlier access to key SKUs and a lower-risk ramp.

In short: what this will mean for your business

Escaudœuvres puts production closer to French clients in the heart of Hauts-de-France, cutting distance and time so you can react faster to demand. We’re building lines around French tastes and missions. From oven- and air-fryer-ready formats to textures that hold up in delivery, so the products on your shelf or menu match how people in France actually cook and eat. Combine that with the staggered, phased start-up that brings key SKUs online earlier, and you have a dependable path to local supply, faster lead times, and a partner that scales with you.
