Long fries, big flavor
In foodservice, size does often matter. And when it comes to fries, length counts for plate appeal, portion control, and customer satisfaction. That’s where India’s unique growing conditions give Agristo a natural edge.
India isn’t just a good place to grow potatoes ... it’s one of the best. Sitting squarely in the global potato belt, the country ranks #2 worldwide in potato production, with over 50 million tons harvested annually. That’s not just scale, that’s opportunity.
Our site in Uttar Pradesh taps into this rich agricultural ecosystem. The region offers:
Ideal growing conditions: sandy-loam soils, winter growing seasons, and efficient irrigation systems.
A skilled grower base: farmers who know potatoes and who are eager to grow for premium processing.
Strategic proximity: close to key export markets in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and beyond.
But it’s not just about geography. It’s about how we grow.
Agristo’s agronomy team works side-by-side with local farmers to improve yields and quality. We support them with modern equipment for soil prep, planting, irrigation, and harvesting. But we go beyond, with high-quality inputs like treated seed, fertilizers, and crop protection, as well as training and field guidance throughout the season.
Since we started out our training program, average yields have jumped from 25 to 37 tons per hectare — a result of better techniques, smarter tools, and shared expertise.
And here’s something foodservice clients love: the Santana potatoes grown here tend to be longer than those in Europe. Thanks to India’s warmer soils and unique growing conditions, stolons stretch further before tubers bulk up, resulting in longer fries with great plate appeal.
By building in the potato belt, we’re not just growing fries. We’re growing partnerships, consistency, and a future-proof supply chain.
